After School AKAdemy
offers an arts-based program to middle school girls from Booker T. Washington, Midtown Academy and Mt. Royal Middle Schools, to help improve their school performance and provide a safe environment after school. Members of the Rho Xi Omega chapter of AKA sorority act as mentors to participants.

Children’s Permanency Program
recruits and trains parents to foster/adopt medically fragile infants and children. We place drug-exposed, HIV-exposed or alcohol-affected infants in foster homes while offering counseling and case management services to birth parents. If birth parents are unable to create a stable home for their children, foster families move forward with adoption. Foster/adoptive parents are also recruited to adopt older children. FCS provides ongoing training and support to families after adoption.

School Outreach and Advocacy Program (SOAP) helps at-risk students succeed in school and make positive life choices through early intervention and prevention services, including counseling, consultation with teachers, and family therapy, in six Harford County elementary schools.

Abuse Treatment Services
help people who have experienced sexual, physical or emotional abuse. Counseling is offered to victims and their families. Advocacy and support services in the home, school and community are also offered. Not all services are available at each center. Please call for details.

Domestic Violence Programs
offer counseling, case management, emergency shelter, and a 24-hour hotline for victims and their children. Abusers participate in group educational programs.

provides the home-visiting component of a comprehensive program designed to reduce child neglect and abuse by supporting first-time parents in Howard County.

HIV Case Management
supports Baltimore families dealing with HIV/AIDS in their efforts to function independently. Helps families address medical, employment, and housing needs and obtain health care.

Park Heights Family Support Center
is a community-based center for families with children under four years of age, offering literacy, parenting and nutrition classes; GED preparation and employment readiness services; health screenings; and referrals to community resources. Staff works with parents and their children to ensure that each child achieves developmental milestones.

Adult Day Centers
are fully accredited adult medical day care programs providing stimulation, socialization, nutritious meals and nursing supervision for mentally and/or physically impaired adults in a pleasant and comfortable environment.

Foster Grandparent Program
provides low-income senior citizens with a stipend for work in community settings with special-needs children in need of a loving, attentive relationship with a nuturing grandparent figure. A federally-funded program.

In-Home Caregiving and Case Management Services
help individuals remain safely in their community, provide caregiver training and respite and promote family stability. Case managers coordinate
health and personal care services individuals may
need to avoid premature institutionalization. Certified nursing assistants, under the supervision of registered nurses, provide light house-keeping, meal preparation, laundry, shopping and
personal care to elderly or disabled adults as well as
those recovering from injury, illness or surgery. Sliding-fee scale services are offered throughout Central Maryland.

Oscar G. Murray Program
is a program that provides monthly grants or lump sum payments to help support widows and orphans of former B&O Railroad Company employees. The charitable trust is administered by the Baltimore Community Foundation and coordinated by Family and Children’s Services.

Senior Community Service Employment Program
offers low-income senior citizens work in a grant-funded training program in public or nonprofit organizations with the goal of moving workers to permanent jobs. This program is offerred in Baltimore City and Carroll and Howard counties.
